The U.S. 12 Heritage Route runs through 8 counties along the southern corridor of Michigan.The roadway was completed May 24, 1825 with 2 stage coaches running between Detroit and Fort Dearborn in Chicago each week.
The trail actually started some 10,000 years ago when it was the longest Mastodon travel-way, and is still the longest ever found according to Paleontologists from the University of Michigan.
